Mrs. Matherly’s class qualified for a grant for a bluebird nesting box to be placed at Chatham Elementary School. The bluebird box is located outside of the classroom, near a window. On March 19th, as they carefully checked their bluebird box, they saw their first bluebird nest. Everyone was so excited. Fast forward to March 26th, they discovered six bluebird eggs in the nest. With excitement, the students all went home and told their parents. Eagerly anticipating the hatching of bluebirds in a few weeks and hope they will be able to see the little birds through the early stages of their lives and watch them grow.
Interactive and first hand experiences are exciting ways to teach children and they will never forget it. (Neither will their teacher!)
