The Chatham Elementary School Junior BETA Club sponsored a school wide assembly in honor of Veteran’s Day. Local veterans were invited as honored guests. During the assembly, students from all classes recited the Pledge of Allegiance, listened to an original poem written and presented by Mrs. JoAnn Hightower and listened to a poem read by 5th grade Junior BETA member Miss Hollie Striker. In addition, all Chatham Elementary School students sang The Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America and Thank a Veteran as lead by music teacher Mr. Joshua Forringer. After the assembly, Junior BETA Club members held a reception in the school’s cafeteria for all veterans who participated.
